Renishaw Primary School

Year 4

Hello and welcome to Year 4. In this important year, children continue to progress in their confidence, knowledge and skills.  Pupils begin to express themselves in more detail through their written work and become more fluent in subjects such as Mathematics and Reading. Throughout Year 4, progress is celebrated together - as a whole class.  Each and every child has a chance to be the best they can be.  Our aim is that all pupils to become confident and resilient learners as they move into Upper Key Stage 2.

Pupils will take the Multiplication Times Table Check in the Summer term.

Curriculum overview - Long term plan.

Learning this term.

Our topic question is "were the Vikings raiders, traders or settlers?"

We created this image of a Viking Longship together.

English narrative and instructional writing will be based on our learning.  The children will be writing about the Viking journey from Scandinavia to England and the confrontations and meetings that followed.  Children will design and create a number of recipes using our topic learning.  We hope to share some of these culinary delights with you towards the end of the school year.

In Maths we will be exploring decimals, money and time.  We use the White Rose scheme of work.  This is supported by a wide range of additional learning experiences.
